CasaOS

An open-source home-server dashboard that adds an app store and file manager on top of Linux.

Minimums are what the maker says it takes to boot, not what it takes to be useful. Plan on more of everything. IMPORTANT ACCURACY FLAG: the vendor's own site (casaos.zimaspace.com) now states 'We have upgraded CasaOS to ZimaOS' and promotes ZimaOS ('the next-generation NAS OS') instead. CasaOS's GitHub repo has had no new release since v0.4.15 on 2024-12-19, about 21 months stale as of this check (2026-09-21), consistent with the project being in maintenance-only or effectively superseded status while ZimaOS is the actively developed product. CasaOS is not itself a bootable OS/hypervisor like the other four platforms in this file; it installs on top of an existing Linux system (officially tested on Debian 12, Ubuntu Server 20.04, and Raspberry Pi OS), so base_os is left null and a min RAM/disk figure was not found on any vendor page fetched today. Treat this entry as legacy/community-status for the site, and consider adding ZimaOS as a separate platform record.
